However, as a child, I could never approach my parents about the possibility of taking guitar lessons because that was simply not acceptable or permitted in my home land Haiti. Although I had the privilege to be brought up by my grandparents, uncles and aunties; their love and support toward me were truly uncanny.

Hobens Richelieu as known as Gonave Star. I grew up in the west part of Haiti on an Island called La Gonave. I was brought up by my biological parents (Mr. Frederick Richelieu & Mrs. Nariola Richelieu) in a broken home with my nine siblings. In a local Catholic Church called St Isidor, I attended mass with my family, almost every Sunday. read more

Growing up as a young man, I knew that I had a gift. In Haiti, my parents’ main focus was for me to obtain an education. I listened to music, but I was not yet in love with music. In 1993, I migrated to America and music was all around me. Not only did I listen to Hip Hop, R&B but I also continued to listen to “Kompa”, music from my homeland. read more
