However, as a child, I could never approach my parents about the possibility of taking guitar lessons because that was simply not acceptable or permitted in my home land Haiti. Hobens Richelieu as known as Gonave Star. I grew up in the west part of Haiti on an Island called La Gonave. I was brought up by my biological parents (Mr. Frederick Richelieu & Mrs. Nariola Richelieu) in a broken home with my nine siblings. In a local Catholic Church called St Isidor, I attended mass with my family, almost every Sunday. read more

Growing up as a young man, I knew that I had a gift. In Haiti, my parents’ main focus was for me to obtain an education. I listened to music, but I was not yet in love with music. In 1993, I migrated to America and music was all around me. Not only did I listen to Hip Hop, R&B but I also continued to listen to “Kompa”, music from my homeland. read more
